President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is preparing to interact with supporters through a TikTok Live session as he gets ready to begin his campaign activities in Central Uganda.
The idea is being organized by his daughter, Natasha Karugire, who has been accompanying the president on the campaign trail in the Rwenzori region. Over the past week, Natasha has shared short video clips on Instagram where she interviews the president, giving Ugandans a closer look at his campaign journey.
Natasha revealed that the suggestion for a TikTok Live came from her own followers.
She explained, “Some followers have now suggested that we do a TikTok Live session. Being new on the app, I have asked about it and I am being advised on how to go about it. I will consult with Mzee and see if it is possible to go live so he can interface with people.”
If approved, the live session would allow Museveni to directly engage with Ugandans online, especially the youth who form a big part of TikTok’s audience.
This is not the first time Natasha has helped the president reach voters through digital platforms. During the 2020/21 presidential campaigns, she played a key role in supporting his online communication efforts.
A TikTok Live session would mark another step in the president’s attempt to connect with the public through modern social-media tools.
