Brian Kibet Bera, a fifth year Mechanical Engineering at JKUAT who attempted to force his way into State House, had posted several worrying messages threatening to kill President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Bera was shot on Monday after he was caught by the Presidential guards attempting to cross over the fence at State House Nairobi.
He is reported to have carried a knife which he attempted to use to hurt one of the guards.
On Sunday night, the engineering student took to his Facebook where he announced his plan to attack State House.
“Thief President Uhuru Kenyatta and his partners. Tomorrow I attack State House.
God has sent me to execute judgement on every thief and every partner of a thief. From Prince Of Ethiopia, formerly called Brian Kibet Bera,” the student wrote.
In another post, he wrote “let my messages reach everyone. I am going slay thief President Uhuru Kenyatta. Those calling me mad, why have you not come to arrest me and take me to Mathare?”.
A close look at his Facebook page painted a picture of a disturbed mind whose troubled posts did not prompt his friends to offer support.
“I am going to state house with a sword, (or where can I get President Uhuru Kenyatta?). I am only going to slay President Uhuru Kenyatta and his thief partners because they stole the land God gave to my ancestors. Uhuru Kenyatta and his tribesmen (Kikuyus, Lumeek(Luhyas), Kisiis, Luos) stole my inheritance (land),” Bera wrote last week on Friday.
Kibet was quick to point to his academic achievement to disapprove those who doubted his mental health.
“Those calling me hopeless. Please note: I am a Bsc Mechanical Engineering student 5th year second semester at Jkuat. This Semester ends in July 12th. I worked hard in Primary school waking up at 3:00a.m to read on many days. I got 407 marks went to Nairobi School where I woke up at 3:00 a.m to read on many days,” he said.
