ODM leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday hosted Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru at his Capitol Hill office.

Raila said that during the afternoon meeting with the Kirinyaga County boss they discussed national cohesion and inclusivity.

"Met with Governor Anne Waiguru at Capitol Hill Square and had a discussion on national cohesion and inclusivity," Raila said.

There meeting came barely a month after Waiguru campaigned for ODM MP Imran Okoth during the hotly contested Kibra by-election.

Waiguru said she had joined the ODM leader and other politicians out of respect for his March 9, 2018 handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"We must say in plain truth that the country is peaceful because of the handshake. We will protect it," the governor said.

"The others who claim they want to bring developments are just baiting you. They are a one-man guitar, unlike Imran who is the fruit of handshake," she added.

The Kirinyaga governor had revealed during an interview that Mt Kenya was open to forming a political alliance with Mr Odinga ahead of the 2022 elections.

She has described the Orange Democratic Movement leader as ‘someone who understands the significant role that women play in Kenya’s politics.’

Although the two had a frosty relationship Ms Waiguru said the "discussed some serious politics. Of course, we first settled the history we had together".
