After reports claiming the sacking of Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi as Vice President, State House has come out to make a clarification.

State House says reports that President Kaguta Museveni has dropped Ssekandi and appointed Apollo Nelson Makubuya as VP are fake.

Senior Press Secretary to the President Don Wanyama said: "Colleagues, this has been brought to my notice. It is fake. I have not issued any such statement. Please disregard."

The reports claimed that Ssekandi had been appointed a special presidential advisor on Buganda affairs.

The fake reports come days after HRH Kabaka Ronald Mutebi II reshuffled his cabinet, reducing it to 14 members.

Ssekandi has served as the vice president since 2011 when he replaced Gilbert Bukenya.
