Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake is recovering in a hospital in India from injuries he sustained during his brutal arrest mid-August in the northern town of Arua.

He is one of the lawmakers who was arrested together with musician-turned-politician Bobi Wine.

Zaake was also allegedly tortured by Ugandan security operatives while in detention.

The legislator recounted what he went through following his arrest and accuses the president's security operatives of "excessive batter".

Foreign chemical substances

Zaake claims that doctors found foreign chemical substance in his body after medical examinations.

He says specialists cleansed his whole body to get rid of the substances he alleges to be "slow killer poison".

"In New Delhi, through Ugandan Embassy the state of Uganda has attempted to conspire so that my medical documents are given to them but professional ethics that these medical workers exhibit, made their efforts futile."

Zaake revealed that he is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) of his horrible experience in Arua.

The 27-year-old adds that he gets panic attacks and sometimes lacks balance while walking.

"I must support myself to walk which I am told can stop after continued Physiotherapy sessions".

Zaake is expected to return to Uganda on Thursday from India where he has been receiving specialised treatment.
