Makerere University administration has indefinitely suspended 3 students for engaging in

In the letters seen by Pulse Live Uganda, the university's Vice-Chancellor Barnabas Nawangwe asserts that the students "circulated inflammatory messages on social media calling for defiance and disruption of university activities".

He appends that the students engaged in an unlawful demonstration which was aimed at disrupting the Guild Representative Council Session -- "pausing danger to the lives of participants and causing damage to university property".

The decision to suspend the students is aimed at ensuring safety and security, according to VC Nawangwe.

The suspended students are from the school of Psychology, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Bachelor of Commerce external and College of Education and External Studies and School of Medicine.

University's security personnel have been directed to initiate criminal proceedings against these students.

They have been warned not to appear at any "installations of Makerere University until the suspension is lifted".
