Former Bank of Uganda Director for Commercial Banks Supervision Justine Bagyenda has appeared before Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) after skipping three summons.
Bagyenda is one of the Bank of Uganda (BoU) officials being questioned for the irregular closure of seven commercial banks in Uganda.
Last week, the central bank's head of security testified before the parliamentary committee that CCTV camera captured Bagyenda's driver and bodyguard stealing vital documents from BoU on February 11th, four days after firing her.
Her bodyguard and driver were later arrested to aid the CIID in the investigations of how bags of documents left the central bank.
Two security guards who on were on duty on February 11th were also arrested by authorities.
Bagyenda skipped all COSASE meetings but had informed the committee that she would be away for an appointment abroad.
MPs sitting on COSASE agreed to ban Bagyenda from travelling out of the country.
The committee ordered the embattled former Bank of Uganda official to surrender her passports to Parliament.
Bagyenda skipped three COSASE sitting after travelling abroad for earlier confirmed appointments.
