Conflicting accounts have emerged on the death of popular comedian John Gift with earlier reports suggesting that the deceased may have been sodomised being dismissed.
Annet Wafula Masinde, a sister to the deceased revealed that amidst reports circulating on social media, the family requested the pathologist to confirm any claims of sodomy.
“We told the pathologist to check and he ruled out claims that our brother might have been sodomised,” she said.
An autopsy conducted on the body of the deceased at Bungoma County Referral Hospital reportedly failed to reveal what exactly killed him, with his family demanding to know the truth.
She expressed concerns and frustration, demanding for answers on the death that is the subject of police investigations.
“John Gift was still bleeding all over his body. There was a lot of blood on his skull, bladder, stomach and brain. As a family we want to know why, a week later, my late brother is still bleeding in excess,” Ms Masinde added.
The deceased who died on 02 June was a fourth year student at the University of Eldoret (UoE) and wa popular for his vernacular comedy recorded in his Bukusu dialect.
Reports indicate that the comedian who spent last weekend in Bungoma town recording a show travelled to Kitale to meet his sponsor Jim Nduruchi, at around 4 PM after the Madaraka day celebrations.
Shortly afterwards, members of his Western Talents group were informed that he had been hospitalized at two different health facilities.
They would finally be referred to Lifecare Hospital in Bungoma town where the deceased was admitted but died on Sunday morning while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
