Police in Ugandas capital, Kampala, are holding in custody a 28-year-old woman for allegedly stealing merchandise worth 20 million shillings from a friends shop.
Diana Babirye allegedly stole the goods from her friend's shop in Kigoowa, Ntinda, according to a police report.
Her friend told authorities that she left Babirye, her longtime trusted friend, at the shop -- she suspects she used the opportunity to duplicate the shop keys.
Investigations
Information from the investigations team revealed that Babirye was at the shop by the time the break-in happened.
Police raided and searched her home in Luzira, recovering several stolen goods, including a television and a refrigerator.
Evil spirits
Babirye admitted stealing the goods from the shop following her arrest.
The 28-year-old woman said the evil spirits used her and urged her to break into her friend's shop.
She is being held at Ntinda Police Station on charges of theft.
