Police in western Uganda has found a body of a 14-year-old who was kidnapped and killed after parents failed to raise a random of UGX7m.

The student identified as Peter Oscar Muhairwe was kidnapped from Kaberebere Town in Isingiro District early this month, independently owned newspaper Daily Monitor reports.

Muhairwe's mother was only able to raise UGX200,000 of the UGX7m demanded by the kidnapper.

The boy's body was found tied with a rope and buried about 50 metres from a pit latrine where he was being held.

Authorities said the kidnapper used four different phone numbers to demand the ransom.

The kidnapper was arrested after police used GPS and call data print-outs to track him.

He will be arraigned in court to face murder charges.
