Ugandans have started a vigorous campaign to vote for Quiin Abenakyo online
Ugandans have started a vigorous campaign to support one of theirs at the Miss World pageant competitions which are underway in China.
Who is Quiin Abenakyo?
Abenakyo won the Miss Uganda beauty pageant in August this year after beating other 21 contestants to win the competition.
She is aged 22 and was born in Mayuge District in the eastern part of Uganda.
The reigning Miss Uganda is a graduate of Bachelors Degree in Business Computing
Why has she garnered Ugandans' support?
Last week, Abenakyo stunned the world when she defeated Miss Argentina during the head to head challenge.
The win, which she cemented by presenting to the panelists how her 'beauty with a purpose' project is aimed at creating awareness about teenage pregnancy, saw her secure a spot in the top 30 Miss World contestants.
She became the second Miss Uganda to reach that level of competition after Victoria Nabunya in 2001 -- who made it to Top 20.
How Ugandans are voting?
Ugandans are showing Miss Uganda support by voting her in the ongoing Miss World competition.
Miss World opened a platform where the fans can vote for their favourite contestants.
The real-time voting platform indicates that Abenakyo has so far garnered 1.55%. You can vote for her here
