American fast food chain Burger King is set to open its fourth outlet in Nairobi as it seeks to expand its footprint in the Kenyan market.
The Thika Road Mall outlet will add to the franchise's presence at the city’s NextGen, The Hub, and Two Rivers malls.
The restaurant is independently owned and operated through a franchise agreement with NAS Airport Services Limited, a subsidiary of Servair, the third-largest airline catering and logistics business globally and the category’s leader on the African continent.
Besides Kenya, the chain also has a presence in Egypt, Morocco, South Africa, and Ivory Coast.
The franchise early this year announced the opening about 20 stores a year, with most of its future locations will being drive-thrus.
Burger King's expansion signals rising competitions by global fast food companies in the local market.
Other international brands in the market include as Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), Hardees, Dominos and Cold Stone Creamery.
