Of the 211 FIFA member nations, 200 cast a vote at the 68th FIFA Congress in Moscow, with the winners needing a majority of 104.

The loss is Morocco’s fifth in a World Cup bidding process after previous tries in 1994, 1998, 2006 and 2010.

And while FIFA released the full votes on their website, it is now apparent that 11 of the 52 African nations that took part in the vote did not back the North African country's bid.

They included Benin , Botswana , Cape Verde, Guinea, Lesotho , Liberia, Mozambique, Namibia, Sierra Leone, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Ghana was absent after the country's government said it had disbanded its football association amid allegations of widespread corruption.

Morocco was counting on the strong support of African countries but it seems the ten nations defied the continental solidarity and voted otheriwse.
