Kenyas Deputy President William Ruto caused a frenzy on Monday after he carried Sh10 million in a backpack to a goat auction.

Mr Ruto said the goats belonged to him and President Uhuru Kenyatta with each giving Ksh.5 million each for 700 goats. Each goat was valued at Sh7,500.

In several videos that have been shared widely on social media, one of the DP's handlers is seen bringing the backpack containing the money before handing it over to the host governor, Joseph Ole Lenku.

The auction is meant to help 5,000 families in the county to enroll into the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) health cover.

Kenyans had a field day on social media with some of them questioning the source of his money.
