President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to jet back into the country this week following the conclusion of his tour to Canada for the G7 Summit.

And it was pretty much a plethora of activities for the President during the two-day summit held in La Malbaie, a resort town in Quebec.

From meeting corporate leaders to holding bilateral talks with heads of state, here is a recap of the key people Mr Kenyatta came across at the conference:

Friday 8 June

  • Held meeting with President Macky Sall of Senegal where he briefed on the plan to open Embassy in Dakar within four months to boost trade and people ties.

  • President Kenyatta also held talks with his Rwandan counterpart Paul Kagame where they discussed matters surrounding regional security, trade, climate change

  • The Friday meeting was not wrapped before he held bilateral talks with Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness, Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard, Governor General of Canada Julie Payette as well as other Heads of State.

 

Saturday 9 June

  • The President met and held discussions with International Monetary Fund (IMF) MD Christine Lagarde and Haiti president Jovenel Moïse.

 

 

  • He also held talks with UN Secretary General António Guterres

Sunday 10 June

  • Mr Kenyatta held talks with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa focused on deepening bilateral and trade relations.

  • Likewise, he had a discussion with World Bank CEO Kristalina Georgieva where they explored how the Bank's funding could be realigned to reflect the Big Four Agenda.

  • The President wrapped up the G7 Summit by meeting his host Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Quebec City for bilateral talks.
